The Knight of Swords represents the Fire (as in Qabalistic Atziluth) in the element of Air (which is also Yetzira) as well as the first two Sephitoth in the Tree of Life. He holds much passions (as represented by the Fire) for intellect (as represented by the Air). This Fire and Air combination makes him the storm of the mind, flaming up high. (also see Prince of Wands which is Air in Fire). On one hand it is about sharp intelligence and mental realization, but then on the other hand it is about getting lost in too many theories and thoughts due to lack of the depths of the Water and the stability of the earth.
